# Kokiri Forest

A boy without a fairy

**Chapter 1 of 16** of the Ocarina of Time remake walkthrough, played as Young Link, in 4 steps.

Navi wakes you and the Great Deku Tree summons you. Before you go, gear up: you need a sword and a shield to pass Mido.

1. Leave your treehouse and climb down. Talk to Saria, then explore the village collecting Rupees from grass, rocks and the pots in houses. _Tip: Rupees respawn when you leave and re-enter the area._
2. Go up the hill by the training area and crawl through the hole into the boulder maze. The remake changed the maze: work your way to the back, dodging the boulders, and climb the ladder there to reach the chest with the Kokiri Sword.
3. Buy the Deku Shield for 40 Rupees at the Kokiri Shop.
4. Equip both and talk to Mido at the path to the Great Deku Tree. Cut down the Deku Babas on the path (each drops a Deku Stick or Nut) and speak with the Deku Tree.
